Richard B. Cheney, prominent businessman and public servant is the vice president. Cheney known as a popular figure in Washington politics, worked with four presidents in the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush chose Cheney as his running mate for vice president in July 2000, citing Cheney's experience and insight. Dick Cheney was a chief of Staff to Presidents, served on the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense and served his country in many roles. Both Republicans as well as Democrats admire him for his honesty. Cheney declared that his position as a member of the Bush administration is to be an honest but quiet adviser. Cheney expressed his excitement at taking the Republican vice-presidential nominee. Cheney said Cheney is eager to work with a leader who can collaborate with those who have different political views and with the same goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941 the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. When Richard Bruce Cheney turned 13 the family of Richard Bruce Cheney left Lincoln Nebraska and moved to Casper Wyoming where his father worked for Casper Wyoming, where his father was the director of U.S. Department of Agriculture's local soil conservation districts.
